Biography

Shahrear Kabir Heemel is a photographer based in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Apart from working as a professional photographer in editorial and commercial sectors, he has been undertaking personal projects since his student life. 

Heemel has been in love with photography as a visual language. Through his personal works he explores and examines his surroundings – material and non-material. He looks for beauty in the mundane, as well as peculiaritiy in the usual. The nature of photography as a medium and its interaction with humans intrigue him. 

Heemel believes that photographs, apart from being an exploration of their subject matters, also speak as much about the photographer. So, his journey through the medium is also a mean of exploring his self and his connection to the world that he lives in. 

The journey of a hobbyist becoming an artist began at Pathshala South Asian Media Institute, Dhaka. Having been a student of the wonderful school, Heemel now works there as a tutor. To him, it is an opportunity to connect to other minds through exchange of knowledge. He looks forward to continue evolving as a visual artist.
